The resurrection

It’s been a very long time with no activity in the Marshall Buckley camp. No excuses, just no writing.

The previous project is back on ice having hit a substantial barrier just as it seemed to be going well. That ones been on again/off again forever so there’s every possibility it might see the light of day again.

In the meantime a new idea has been brewing. It’s a bit early to get too excited about it, but there’s a story there, a working title (which, for a change, feels like it might actually be the final title) and a couple of thousand words are in the bag already. I’d say ‘watch this space’ but that would probably be termed cruel and unusual punishment given the desert that this site has become recently.

More updates as and when there is anything to talk about.

Better than cheap – FREE!

Last week, I decided to offer all four books for the bargain price of 99p/99c.

It was a bit of an experiment – and now I’d like to take that experiment another step further.

Starting NOW until the end of May, you can actually get all books for free. There’s only a very small catch:

Amazon doesn’t allow me to set a zero price, and I can’t distribute to Nook etc for anything less than 99c. The only way to give these books away is to offer a Coupon which can only be redeemed at smashwords.com. It’s not the end of the world, obviously, but it’s a little more tricky as you’ll have to download the files from Smashwords then copy them via the USB cable to your ereader.

Hopefully, though, that’s not too tricky. The plus side is that Smashwords offers the books in a large variety of formats, so you should have no trouble finding a format that suits you.

You’ll need to go here to download the books:

Smashwords

And you’ll need these coupon codes:

The Long Second: WP88S

Broken: JV87C

Chronostasis: CU95E

Playing Adam’s Game: YS34Q

I ask for only 2 things in return. Firstly: spread the word – tell your friends! Secondly: write a review – preferably on Amazon but, really, anywhere (if  you do review it, please let me know!)

EDIT. I just wanted to clarify one thing: When I ask that you post a review, I want you to post an honest review. If you love the book(s), then that’s great and I’d be delighted if you post a good review. On the other hand, if they leave you feeling “Meh!” then by all means post that too (it’d be good if you could put your finger on why you feel that, though). So, yes, please review – but be honest. Thanks.

Grab a bargain

For a limited time – I haven’t yet decided how long that will be – I’ve reduced the price of all four books on Amazon Kindle to 99p/99c

Why? Because it was never about the money – I get a far bigger kick from knowing that somebody is reading (and, hopefully, enjoying) the books than I ever do when looking at the royalty payments.

Of course, if I were selling thousands and thousands of books then I might feel differently!

Regardless, wherever you are, you should be able to get them from Amazon for what is, frankly, silly money when you consider how much time and effort goes into a book – and I mean any book, not just mine.

So, splash out, grab a bargain with my compliments. And tell the world.

(I’m sure you know where to get them but here are the links anyway: Amazon UK, Amazon USA, Amazon Canada)

It’s Out There

CHRONOSTASIS is now available on all major e-reader platforms.

It’s taken a little longer than expected to appear on Nook, but it is now there as well as being on Kindle and Kobo.

Countdown To Launch

With the title and cover revealed, I can now confirm that the official release date for Chronostasis will be this coming Friday – 8th March 2013.

To whet your appetites, here’s Chapter 1

A very small delay

With apologies – I’m still waiting on the final cover art for book 3.

it’s expected in the next couple of days and as soon as I have it, I’ll be uploading the book to Kindle, Smashwords and Kobo (Kindle first, the rest should follow quite quickly. B&N Nook owners will need to wait for Smashwords to distribute it, which might take a few days longer).

Commercial Break

With the release of book 3 becoming imminent (no, really, we’re at cover-art design stage), it’s time for a gentle reminder of all the places from which the books are available.

Amazon have them available from their many worldwide sites for Kindle owners, and those who wish to read from phones, tablets and computers. Visit Amazon.com or your local site. (Here for UK readers, here for US)

Nook users in the US can purchase from Barnes and Noble’s Nook store. (Here)

Kobo users worldwide can purchase from the Kobo store. (Here)

Sony Reader users worldwide can purchase from the Sony store.

And, if that wasn’t enough, just about all e-reader users can purchase from Smashwords (here) – where you can find the books in just about every conceivable format (including PDF and plain text, if that’s your fancy).

If you desperately need them in paper form, Amazon also have them via CreateSpace, as does the Book Depository – but, really, you’re far better off with an electronic version (don’t think that the high price of the paperbacks would mean more money for me, they’re basically sold at cost price). It’s unlikely, however, that book 3 will be available in paperback – though that might change.

Stay tuned for the official release announcement – as well as some pre-release information (including the title and cover image) soon.

The End (at last)

It’s taken forever, and then some, but Book 3 (which still doesn’t have an official title) is done.

Well, the writing is done, at least. Just a bit of editing and the usual post-writing stuff.

Hope to have it available by – let’s put my neck on the line again – 1st March 2013. Maybe even before if proof-reading goes well.

Not just a flash in the pan

In case you were wondering if my previous announcement that writing of book 3 is progress was just a one off, please be assured that it wasn’t!

Of course, I took a little time off over Christmas, but I’m writing again. This is pretty much the longest stretch of consistent writing I’ve done in almost 2 years. Yikes, that sounds awful.

There’s still a little way to go, but it really is getting there.

Hang on in there.
